That said, Engineering is popular because it creates fun interactions with the game world, not just bigger numbers. It can also be useful: engineers craft profession equipment for other crafters, plus guns, scopes, and special ammo that hunters can enjoy. There are also items like braces with tinker sockets that other players can use.
If your only goal is pure gold-making or strict min-maxing, Engineering might not be the top pick. But if you want a mix of utility and fun inventions, it’s a strong choice.
Engineering uses a lot of ore for its inventions, so Mining is the most natural supporting profession.
You may be able to earn some gold by selling certain items on the Auction House, such as braces with tinker sockets, guns, special ammo, and profession equipment. With smart specialization investment and a good sense of the market, profit is possible — but you generally shouldn’t pick Engineering expecting easy gold.
