Scribes can make glyphs, missives, trinkets, profession books, contracts, runes, sigils, mysteries, profession equipment, magic weapons, Darkmoon Cards, and even cosmetic options for your dragon. What you focus on early mostly depends on how you invest points across specializations.

With the profession updates introduced in Dragonflight, there were even more Auction House opportunities for scribes. It’s impossible to predict long-term margins perfectly, but at the start of expansions, demand for core Inscription products tends to be strong.

Most professions have a role, and Inscription is no exception. It’s especially relevant at max level, where players look for things like missives for gearing and glyphs for appearance changes.

At the same time, Inscription is often considered one of the trickier crafting professions to “read” and build correctly, and it can cost more to level than many alternatives. If you enjoy a more complex profession, it can be a great pick — but for a simpler start, many players prefer another primary profession first.

Herbalism is the classic pairing, since herbs are the base material chain for Inscription. More specifically, scribes rely on ink, which comes from milling herbs — so having your own herb supply removes a big bottleneck.

If herbs aren’t a problem for you, other common second-profession options include Alchemy (also herb-based), or Enchanting / Tailoring (both relatively self-sufficient).
